What is collected
When you subscribe through the “Follow the experiment” form, the following is collected:
- your email address;
- the language of the page you subscribed from (it or en);
- your IP address and browser user-agent, for abuse prevention (rate limiting);
- the timestamp of your subscription and, if applicable, of your unsubscription.
No other personal data is collected. No profiling cookies are used, your navigation is not tracked, and email opens are not measured.
Purpose and legal basis
Your data are used exclusively to send a very limited number of updates about the pilot study: the Day 1 launch, mid-experiment observations, the Day 31 results. At most three to five emails over thirty days.
Legal basis: your consent, given when subscribing, under article 6(1)(a) of EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR). These data will never be used for commercial marketing, for profiling, or for anything beyond what is stated here.
How to unsubscribe
At any time, in one of two ways:
- click the unsubscribe link included in every email sent to you. It is cryptographically signed and remains valid years later;
- write to info@kairos-experiment.com asking to be removed.
After unsubscribing, your address remains in the database only flagged as unsubscribed, to prevent accidental re-subscription. A request for early deletion is carried out within a few days.
Where the data are held
The mailing list sits in a MySQL database hosted on an Italian server, in Bologna, Italy. Emails are sent through the Gmail SMTP service (Google Ireland Ltd., external data processor, with the GDPR safeguards provided by the Google Workspace contract).
No personal data from the mailing list is shared with other providers, partners or third parties.
Your rights
At any time you may:
- request access to your data, and a copy will be sent to you;
- request rectification or erasure;
- object to processing, or request portability;
- lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
